Update - Thursday July 5Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug that caused Imperial Guardsman Linro to not show up in Kaineng Center.

Update - Thursday July 5Dragon Festival 2007

Attention fellow citizens of Cantha,

On behalf of Emperor Kisu, it is my pleasure to announce this year's Dragon Festival, a three-day celebration of games, dance, drink, and revelry, where we commemorate the dawning of the Age of the Dragon and all those who helped to rebuild our great lands after the Jade Wind. This year, our benevolent emperor has decreed that the festival shall henceforth also celebrate our great victory over Abaddon and his demon forces.

Throughout the duration of the festival, citizens of our great empire can convene at Shing Jea Monastery to socialize with others, partake in carnival activities, and amass Victory Tokens to be redeemed for special prizes. Fans of sport can flex their muscles in the Dragon Arena, where battle prowess and longevity are recognized and rewarded.

There will be no shortage of engaging entertainment, so we hope you make the journey to our lush island and join us in revelry.
Alliance Battles

To better reward players for participating in Alliance Battles even when in enemy territory, we have introduced a new "Underdog Bonus."

  • In the Luxon defense map, Kaanai Canyon, Kurzick players will receive Kurzick faction points equal to twice their score.
  • In the Luxon defense map, Etnaran Keys, Kurzick players will receive Kurzick faction points equal to their score.
  • In the middle map, Saltspray Beach, neither Kurzick nor Luxon players will receive a bonus.
  • In the Kurzick defense map, Grenz Frontier, Luxon players will receive Luxon faction points equal to their score.
  • In the Kurzick defense map, The Ancestral Lands, Luxon players will receive Luxon faction points equal to twice their score.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a stacking bug in the Assassin skill Hidden Caltrops.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented Alliance Battles from beginning if a party failed to load.

Miscellaneous

  • Deaths in the Dragon Arena no longer affect the Survivor title track.
  • Added Xunlai Storage and faction reward NPCs to Alliance Battle outposts.

[edit] GuildWiki notes

  • As of this update, the Male Paragon's /bowhead emote is bugged. Their right arm will continuously "fall" then reset when using the emote.
  • The bug preventing the Siege Turtle's casting of Siege Turtle Attack has been fixed.
  • In observer mode, duplicate party bars will not expand correctly if there are collapsable allies in the party.

[edit] Update - Tuesday July 17, 2007

[edit] Party Search

  • Whenever a party enters Party Search, an automatic message will now broadcast to players in that party’s current district. For example, if Ancient Shahmat sets “glf monk” as the party’s description in the Party Search panel, “Ancient Shahmat: Party Search – glf monk” will appear in the Chat panel of players in the same district as Ancient Shahmat.

  • Whenever a party leader broadcasts “glf,” “lfg,” lfp,” “wtb,” “wts,” or “wtt” in All chat, that party will now be entered into Party Search automatically with that chat message used as the party's description.

[edit] User Interface

  • The Trade panel now displays the name as well as the icon of trade items present in the trade cart, and a warning message now displays when the person you are trading with changes the offer.
  • The Party panel now automatically resizes vertically to match the contents of the panel.
  • The Party panel now maintains the same position it was placed in while in outposts and missions.
  • The Party panel join frame has been moved to the bottom of the panel.
  • Allies and pets are now listed in collapsible groups in the Party panel while in a mission.

[edit] Domain of Anguish

To balance the Domain of Anguish appropriately for a wider variety of players, the difficulty of this realm has been adjusted. Some of the changes apply only to Normal mode.

  • In Normal mode only, all world effects outside of the final battle have been removed.
  • In Normal mode only, damage output has been reduced for a variety of monsters.
  • The size of several monster groups found in the beginning areas of the City of Torc'qua and the The Foundry of Failed Creations have been reduced.
  • The Enraged ability possessed by creatures in the Domain of Anguish has been adjusted. This ability now gives the caster +50% damage when below 70% Health, and an additional +50% damage when below 30% Health.
  • Fixed a bug that occasionally caused Mallyx to stop reacting in combat.

  • Fixed a bug in the Nightfall mission the Grand Court of Sebelkeh that caused rifts to erroneously display blue bars when being recaptured by the Blasphemy.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the Factions quest "A Formal Introduction" from loading if players had quests from the Dragon Festival in their Quest Logs.

[edit] Miscellaneous

  • The update is very big in size at 569.1 MB and almost 25,000 files. The vast majority of that content are files that will be used in the upcoming expansion, The Eye of the North. It is common for ArenaNet to do so before the release of new campaigns, most likely to limit server load upon the game release.

  • The skill icon for Whirlwind Attack has been changed.

  • When a character levels up, the level-up message now includes how many attribute points that character has gained.
  • The fog on the Tyria map has been visually changed

Heroes' Ascent Update

As a part of this play-balance test week, we’ve made the following changes to Heroes' Ascent:

Removed Broken Tower from the map rotation.
Removed Burial Mounds from the map rotation and replaced it with Fetid River, a new 8v8 Annihilation map that has a Priest.
Removed Sacred Temples from the map rotation and replaced it with the Antechamber, a new 8v8 Control Point map.
Added Forgotten Shrines, a new 8v8 Control Point map, to the map rotation after Unholy Temples.
Changed the Courtyard's game type from Kill Count to King of the Hill.

Miscellaneous
To prevent exploitation of the Nightfall starter mission and quests, the gold rewards for the "Take the Shortcut," "Rally the Recruits," "Quiz the Recruits," and "Primary Training" quests have been removed, and the gold rewards for the Chahbek Village mission have been decreased to 20 gold for Standard, 30 gold for Expert, and 50 gold for Master's. The reward for the Nightfall quest "Secondary Training" has been increased to 200 gold to compensate.
Updated the map rotation for Automated Tournaments.

Fixed the skill "Vampirism" so that it now steals the correct amount of damage.
The Burial Mounds map has been added back in to the Heroes' Ascent map rotation to accommodate the large number of teams playing during the Heroes' Ascent Bonus Weekend.

The Gladiator Title Track had its description reverted to as it was before the August 2nd update.
The "Qualifier point" text and mouseover on the Account tab of the Hero Panel is missing.
Size is approximately 2 MB.(when you use -image)

The following is a list of the most recent updates to Guild Wars, as listed on the official updates info page, with GuildWiki comments.
Check the month by month archives on the right for older updates.

Game updates 25px-Warning
A 0...15 attribute level progression range is used for skills in the update notes. GuildWiki uses the same 0...12 attribute level progression range as the tooltips when displaying skill information. Title-based skills are also listed with progression ranges different from those used in the tooltips.

Update 2 - Thursday, August 23, 2007

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug that reduced players' ranks in the Gladiator title. Affected players will receive Balthazar faction points equal to the amount their faction cap was reduced while the bug was in effect.

Miscellaneous

  • Characters may now only equip up to 3 PvE-only skills at a time.

GuildWiki notes

  • The option for Hard Mode is no longer available. This was unintentional.
  • The limitations to the amount of equipped PvE-only skills are officially announced with the second update but they were already implemented in the first update.

Update - Thursday, August 23, 2007

Territory and District UI Changes

  • Travel between European and American districts is now available through the District List and the map travel dialog panel.
  • The Change Territory button has been removed from the Edit Account panel in the Character Selection Screen.
  • The District List and the map travel district menu have been updated to include a "More Options" button. Selecting this button opens a new dialog panel for travel to districts divided by territory and language.
  • This panel also allows you to choose which numbered district to travel to, instead of automatically taking you to the active district.
  • Players will now log in to the territory and language of the last outpost they visited.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug in the Nightfall quest "Into the Fire" that prevented players from collecting their reward occasionally.
  • Fixed bugs in the North Kryta Province and Tasca's Demise that prevented players from Vanquishing them occasionally.
  • Fixed a god statue in Fahranur, the First City[sic] that was mistakenly summoning Lyssa's Muse instead of the Champion of Balthazar.
  • Fixed a graphical error with the Hourglass Staff preorder item.

Miscellaneous

  • Added new ranks to the Kind of a Big Deal title track.
  • Re-enabled the reconnect after disconnect feature.
  • The Text Language drop-down list found in the Options [F11] panel now displays all language entries in both your current language choice as well as each entry's language.
  • The Party panel can once again be resized vertically. It still re-sizes automatically whenever members are added or removed.
  • To avoid players accidentally expanding or collapsing groups listed within the Party panel, players must now click on the [+] button to expand or collapse these groups.

GuildWiki notes

  • This update required users to accept a new version of the EULA.

    • One of the changes was to a line in 5(b) that will allow them to close all your accounts if you attempt a charge-back, instead of just the account you're attempting the charge-back from.
    • The other was in line 4(b): added the line "Where possible, your game account shall be identical to your master account."

  • This is a fairly large update, approximately 35.7 MB large and contains over 3600 files.
  • This update scaled the Gladiator title ranks up (first rank at 500), but did not convert existing player gladiator points. This seems to be a mistake as all schemes for changing this title included a plan to convert and scale players' gladiator points into the new scheme. See this link for details on the schemes to scale the title. The changes were reverted in the subsequent update.
  • Rank 5 of the Lightbringer is now called "Conquering Lightbringer" and rank 6 is now called "Vanquishing Lightbringer." Previously, rank 5 was called "Vanquishing Lightbringer" and rank 6 was called "Conquering Commander."
  • Common districts were renamed back to English districts.
  • Pressing M (for world map) in an area that does not appear on the world map such as Sunspear Sanctuary, will show a mini-map on the big map and a button labeled "Mission Map" in the bottom left corner that toggles this mini-map.
  • A slot for Onyx Gemstones was added to material storage in preparation for GW:EN.
  • Earthquakes have begun to randomly occur in Lion's Arch, Kamadan, and Kaineng Center more commonly. When an earthquake happens, the background music changes to an eerie new music track. Along with the initial appearance of Oozes, Rats, and "Reserve" NPCs, this effect began occurring in-game on August 22nd.
  • GW:EN skills work in skill templates.
  • Added a Moa Nest to Regent Valley, and by interacting with it you can get a Moa Egg. For more information and a screen see this

  • Fixed a glitch with male Paragons, which had caused the right arm to twitch repeatedly while using the /bowhead emote.
  • Using "LFG" and other phrases no longer truncates the message when adding it to Party Search.
  • If an elite skill is captured and then the character is warped to a town or outpost, the elite skill furthest to the left on the skill bar is removed if multiple elite skills are equipped after the capture. Before the update, the elite skill farthest to the right was removed.
  • When advertising on the Party Search panel, unchecking and then rechecking the "Seek Party" checkbox causes the player to announce said advertisement in local chat, rather than trade chat, for example. This can easily be misconstrued as attempting to buy/sell in local chat.
